JOB TITLE:                            TECHNICIAN

 

 

OBJECTIVES AND GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:

To repair and/or service vehicles in adherence to Manufacturer’s recommendations and established Company policies and procedures to ensure vehicles are fixed right the first time and delivered to customers by promised date and time.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • To log on to CDK daily to access assigned jobs and log off system when work ceases or you are on a break/lunch.
  • To perform a 21-point check and other diagnostic checks using appropriate test equipment and tools to identify if any additional work is required and enter same on CDK for approval.
  • To perform maintenance and repairs in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications (shop manuals) and recommendations (service bulletins).
  • To continuously update each job on the electronic repair order on CDK as soon as work is performed, as well as provide timely feedback/updates on job status to the Service Dispatcher/Quality Assurance personnel.
  • To create a Pre Pick, note to Parts department on CDK with required parts and sign note upon receipt of requested parts
  • Ensure all replaced Parts not on warranty are placed in Customer’s vehicle at end of Service.
  • To remove Parts from New Vehicle upon receipt of approved Parts Removal Form signed by General Manager. To sign Parts Removal Form upon removal of Parts and pass form to Service Manager.
  • Ensure all Warranty Parts are tagged, passed to the Technical/Service Manager and log-book signed
  • To assist with the inspection and/or road-testing of vehicles prior to repair to confirm complaint or malfunction outlined on Electronic Repair order, as well as after repair to confirm that complaint or malfunction was rectified as requested by management.
  • Refer to vehicle service records on CDK to review work done previously.
  • To complete online training modules as outlined in annual KPI’s.
  • To protect vehicles from damage; ensuring vehicle protective covering is utilized at all times.
  • To perform any duties which are related but limited to the above as requested by Management.

 

EDUCATION

 

  • Minimum 5 CXC Passes – English A being compulsory
  • Automotive Service Technician (AST) Certification
  • Certificate in Computer Literacy
  • Technician grading is done based on skill level and training. Job complexity will increase based on grade level.
