JOB SUMMARY:
To operate and monitor plant equipment and systems in keeping with accepted engineering practices, in order to facilitate optimal plant production
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates plant equipment / systems in keeping with manufacturers’ recommendations and established engineering standards
- Monitors all plant equipment/systems under their charge, to ensure that they are operating within established specifications. This includes:
- Air compressors and air distribution systems
- Refrigeration and alcohol distribution systems
- Carbon dioxide recovery and distribution systems
- Water production, treatment, storage, and distribution systems
- Records routinely, all information necessary to assess equipment performance - as established by the Supervisor/engineer or as dictated by daily log sheets
- Informs the supervisor when there is a problem or potential problem with plant equipment/systems
- Follows all set procedures for the department and document all occurrences within the area under their charge
- Monitors the levels of consumables necessary to maintain the proper operation of equipment/systems and make arrangements for replenishment. This includes:
- Chemicals for boiler water treatment
- Chemicals for cooling tower treatment
- Brine levels
- Carbon dioxide levels
- Performs any necessary operational checks/tests and make operational and minor adjustments to equipment/systems to ensure optimal performance in accordance with proper operating standards
- Conducts daily water analysis for cooling water and make the required adjustments at the cooling tower
- Ensures availability of the required quality of water for both CDC and CGL on an ongoing basis
- Follows all established procedures and ensure a continuous supply of carbon dioxide to operations at the required purity
- Ensures steam is supplied to operations at the required pressure on a continuous basis
- Ensures alcohol is continuously maintained at the required temperatures to the various areas of the plant that require cooling
- Makes appropriate arrangements for alarm monitoring and communications when it is necessary to leave the services/utilities control room for field checks
- Ensures proper housekeeping in the area under his charge – in keeping with company policy
- Adheres to all the Company’s Safety Rules and Regulations
- Performs any other related duties as requested by the supervisor or Engineer
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Either of the following, or an equivalent combination of training and experience:
- At least Five "O" Level Passes inclusive of Mathematics and English Language, with a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years relevant experience in a similar industry.
- A certificate/diploma in a related field from a Technical/Vocational Institute with 2 to 3 years relevant experience in a similar industry
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Must be competent in the use of basic mechanical hand tools.
- Must be capable of carrying out operational adjustments.
- Must be computer literate.
- Good communication skills (Must possess good verbal skills and be capable of clear, literate expression in writing).
