JOB SUMMARY:
Maintains the accuracy of items in the Balance Sheet and ensures cash is available to meet day-to-day requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintains the fixed assets register and inputs all additions and disposals.
• Journalizes depreciation charges and ensures that system calculations are accurate.
• Liaises with Information System staff and tags all computer equipment.
• Reconciles register with fixed assets, accumulated deprecation, depreciation expenses and general ledger accounts.
• Reviews the monthly Gain/Loss on disposal account and ensure that assets disposed are recorded.
• Ascertains assets leaving the compound are returned in the stipulated time as identified on the Gate Pass.
• Reconciles Prepaid and Accrued Expense accounts and Debtors Clearing accounts on a monthly basis.
• Reconciles other balance sheet accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis as assigned.
• Records banks charges, interest and any other adjustments as necessary and reconciles US Bank account on or before the 15th of each month.
• Calls Depots each morning and records the value of deposits made on the previous day.
• Collects the listing of payments from Payables Department.
• Prepares letters to Banks to ensure that all required monetary transfers are made in a timely manner.
• Accurately keys, edits and processes general ledger journal, accounts payable invoices, raw materials costing and inventory counts.
• Ensures that work areas are maintained in accordance with good housekeeping and safety practices.
• Performs any other related duties required by the job function
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of five (5) O’ Level subjects, including Mathematics and English or A’ Level passes, including Accounts.
• Pursuing AAT or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
• At least ten (10) years working experience in general ledger accounting.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and any other relevant software.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Efficient Time Management skills.
