Position: Underwriter I

Job Summary: This position is primarily responsible for reviewing and appraising applications for insurance. It requires knowledge and independent judgment to determine eligibility of risk when compared to guidelines of programs available
Job Responsibilities
- Provides superior quality service to internal and external customers
- Attends to clients’ queries in a professional manner within 1 day of receipt
- Process reporting forms, underwrites and reviews new/pending applications and initiates queries within the specified time frame. Ensures filing are kept current
- Input of employee/dependent data within 1 day of processing reporting forms
- Calculate commission adjustments/projections in the 12th policy month
- Processes premium payments and follows-up on outstanding premiums, including reports
- Post premiums billed to premium cards and prepare incoming cheque registers for cashiers
- Prepare Commission statements for Agents and Brokers, 1st, and 15th of the month
- Extract billing files and commission files and related documents for transfer to archive
- In-put of Policyholder, employer and health rates records on Concepts
- Process orders for Department supplies and verify bills to forward to Accounts Dept. for payment
Education & Qualifications

- 5 Ordinary Level passes, including Mathematics and English
- Two (2) A‘ levels

Training
- Evidence of training in the principles of insurance.
- Microsoft Office Suite i.e., Word, Excel, Access.
- Knowledge of QC system will be an asset
Experience
Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in the insurance industry.
