Marketing & External Communications Officer 

Purpose of the Role

The Marketing & External Communications Officer serves as a Brand Steward for ANSA McAL, responsible for safeguarding, expressing, and applying the Group’s brand across communications activity. The role leads brand governance execution, Group storytelling, and brand-led initiatives, ensuring that narratives developed across Head Office units, subsidiaries, and platforms remain aligned to the ANSA McAL brand story.

The role translates approved strategy into coherent, brand-consistent communications outputs, working under the direction of the Marketing & External Communications Manager, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and third-party service providers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Brand Governance & Brand Stewardship:
    • Act as a Brand Steward for ANSA McAL, ensuring consistent application of brand governance standards across communications activity.
    • Support the operational rollout of the Group Brand Governance Policy through content review, guidance, and coordination.
    • Serve as a key brand resource to Head Office units, sectors and subsidiaries, supporting corporate teams such as HR and others in shaping stories that align with the ANSA McAL brand narrative.
  • Group Storytelling & Corporate Narratives:
    • Lead the development and coordination of Group storytelling initiatives, including Group-wide brand storytelling initiatives (e.g. ANSA Impact, We Are The ANSA).
    • Shape and refine Group-level narratives across platforms, ensuring consistency between internal storytelling and external brand expression.
    • Coordinate the execution of storytelling outputs based on inputs and direction established through cross-sector marketing discussions led by the Marketing & External Communications Manager.
    • Support the development of key corporate communication projects, including the ANSA McAL Annual Report, with responsibility for content structuring, narrative alignment, and coordination of inputs across sectors.
    • Coordinate third-party creative and production support for storytelling outputs as required, ensuring content accuracy, brand alignment, and readiness for approval.
  • Corporate Brand Platform Management
    • Management of ANSA McAL Group digital platforms – Website, Corporate Intranet, Social Media platforms, including review and monthly updates of all content, refresh designed pages when necessary, etc.
  • Brand Project Management and Campaign Implementation:
    • Support communications and storytelling for brand-led projects and initiatives, including those beyond the immediate Group structure.
    • Lead communications and storytelling for select brand projects where deeper stewardship is required, such as newly acquired or developing brands (e.g BLEACHTECH).
    • Shape narrative direction, content themes, and storytelling outputs in line with approved brand and business objectives.
    • Coordinate content sourcing through approved third-party service providers, with execution support from the Marketing & External Communications Coordinator.
    • Ensure all brand project communications are expressed consistently with the ANSA McAL brand architecture and governance standards.
  • Content Management:
    • Source and coordinate content capture through approved third-party service providers, including photographers and videographers.
    • Set the strategic and creative direction for content capture aligned with brand and storytelling objectives, reviewing Concept Notes prepared by the Marketing and External Communications Coordinator prior to final approval, and working closely with the Coordinator to ensure all Concept Notes are accurate and aligned before engagement with third-party providers.
    • Review and refine sourced content before submission for approval by the Marketing & External Communications Manager.
  • Leadership & Group Content Oversight (Support Function):
    • Support leadership and Group content delivery by reviewing calendars and content prepared by the Marketing & External Communications Coordinator.
    • Provide guidance and feedback to ensure leadership and Group content remains aligned with approved brand narratives and priorities.
    • Posting and final approvals remain with the Marketing & External Communications Coordinator and Manager.
  • Coordination & Team Support:
  • Provide direction and guidance to the Marketing & External Communications Coordinator in support of brand and storytelling priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing & External Communications Team Assistant to ensure content assets, documentation, and records are properly maintained.
  • Maintain clear coordination across internal teams and third-party service providers to support timely and high-quality outputs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Media Studies, or a related field.
  • 4–6 years’ experience in marketing, communications, or brand-focused roles.
  • Experience working across multi-entity or Group environments is an asset.
  • Experience coordinating third-party creative or production support is preferred.

 

Role Clarity & Decision Rights

  • This role acts as Brand Steward, leading brand governance execution, marketing platform management, and storytelling development.
  • This role plans brand and communication campaigns, sources and coordinates content, but does not approve final outputs.
  • Final approval authority sits with the Marketing & External Communications Manager.
  • Execution and posting are supported by the Marketing & External Communications Coordinator.
