IT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR - ANSA McAL Limited
The System Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization, identity services, and cloud platforms. This role ensures high availability, security, and performance of systems while providing Tier 2 support for escalated incidents and requests. The System Administrator works closely with the Infrastructure Lead to implement standards, execute changes, and support projects aligned with business objectives.
Primary Objectives
- Maintain stable and secure infrastructure services (compute, storage, identity, virtualization, voice, collaboration platforms and Cloud).
- Ensure timely resolution of escalated incidents and requests from the Service Desk.
- Execute patching, backup, and disaster recovery processes to meet compliance and RPO/RTO targets.
- Implement configuration standards and contribute to automation initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation for systems, configurations, and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Operations
- Administer Windows Server and Linux environments, including Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy.
- Manage Azure AD and hybrid identity integrations (password sync, conditional access, MFA).
- Support Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint) and endpoint compliance (via Intune) or other systems identified as required.
- Maintain virtualization platforms (Hyper-V): provisioning, resource tuning, snapshots.
- Monitor storage systems (SAN/NAS), disk utilization, and performance metrics.
- Perform patch management for OS and core applications; validate updates in staging before production rollout.
- Assist with operational maintenance and compliance of our various software licenses, Meta-Compliance and Sophos
Backup, DR & Security
- Ensure backup integrity (e.g., Veeam/Azure Backup); perform periodic restore tests.
- Participate in disaster recovery drills; maintain RPO/RTO compliance.
- Apply secure baselines (CIS benchmarks) and enforce hardening standards.
- Assist with vulnerability remediation and coordinate with Security for compliance.
Cloud & Automation
- Support Azure, private cloud and AWS workloads (compute, storage, networking, backup).
- Implement automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash) for routine tasks (user provisioning, patching, monitoring).
- Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates for repeatable deployments.
Incident & Change Management
- Resolve Tier 2 escalations from Service Desk; provide detailed diagnostics and RCA for recurring issues.
- Document troubleshooting steps runbooks and update knowledge base articles.
- Execute approved changes following ITIL-aligned processes; maintain rollback plans and change records.
- Create Method of Procedure (MoPs) for all production changes.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain system diagrams, configuration baselines, and operational runbooks.
- Update asset inventory and CMDB entries for servers, storage, and cloud resources.
- Provide input for monthly reports on uptime, patch compliance, and capacity trends.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in the field of Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
CERTIFICATIONS (Core):
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- CompTIA Network+ and Security+
(Nice‑to‑have: RHCSA or LPIC-1 for Linux, ITIL Foundation.)
Experience
- 2–4 years or more in system administration or infrastructure support.
- Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, virtualization, cloud services, and backup solutions.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes, security hardening, and automation scripting. (Powershell).
Technical Competencies
- Windows Server, Linux administration; AD/Azure AD; DNS/DHCP; Group Policy.
- Virtualization (Hyper-V); storage (SAN/NAS); backup/recovery tools.
- Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS): compute, storage, networking basics.
- Automation scripting (PowerShell, Bash); IaC familiarity (Terraform/Bicep).
- Monitoring tools (SCOM, SolarWinds, Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch).
Personal Attributes

- Endpoint troubleshooting (OS, drivers, performance, updates); basic scripting familiarity is a plus.
- M365 administration at the support level (mailbox issues, Teams client, OneDrive sync).
- Identity basics: password policies, MFA prompts, account lockout resolution, group membership updates.
- Network fundamentals: IP/DNS basics, VPN client troubleshooting, Wi Fi connectivity.
- Good customer service orientation.

- Must maintain strict confidentiality while handling the company and Group highly sensitive data
