SUMMARY OF JOB: The HSSE Officer is responsible for providing professional support to the HSSE Manager.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement the OSH Act and other relevant Health, Safety and Environmental related statutory requirements to ensure compliance with the organizations legal responsibilities, ethical obligations, corporate social responsibility and duty of care.
  • Conduct Operational Risk Assessment of all the company's assets.
  • Coordinate and supervise emergency evacuation drills with relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct orientation of employees/contractors/visitors to ensure compliance with Company HSE policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate contractors and vendors safety management systems in accordance with ANSA McAL's OSH compliance requirements and provide the relevant advice for their engagement.
  • Review and advise on safe work systems, procedures and processes.
  • Coordinate Safety Committee Meetings and perform role as a Secretary of the group with accompanying follow up actions.
  • Conduct HSE training for staff which seeks to build and sustain a strong HSE culture
  • Participate in accident reviews, assists in formulating corrective action plans and monitors same for proper implementation.
  • Ensure that PPE items are managed and stock out of items are reduced or eliminated
  • Provisions under the requirements of TTFS Fire and Life Certificate are maintained
  • Assist in Environmental management and monitor all waste discharges.
  • Promote safety awareness with the goal of developing a Safety culture within the company.
  • Assist in developing, updating and maintaining documents for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHES 45001 standard with all functional managers such as the Quality Manual, Quality Management procedures, Work Instructions and Forms that are required for the continuous improvement of quality in the company.
  • Assist in coordinating/maintaining audit schedules, performing audits, providing/organizing audit documentation required from the Quality Management System.
  • Provide support in administering corrective actions to ensure effective close out of nonconformities via improvements to the Quality Management System.
  • Assist in coordinating Management Reviews to include scheduling with departments, consolidating departmental metric inputs, recording meeting minutes and following up on action items.
  • Assist with the updating of all monthly HSSE reports utilizing Power Apps, Power BI and any other related software.

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Undergraduate Degree/University and major if applicable
  • Should possess a Nebosh Certificate or BSc in Occupational Health and Safety*or an equivalent combination of academic and work experience
  • 3 years' Experience in Health Safety Security and Environmental Management/Manufacturing Sector
  • Certification in Internal Quality Auditing or Process Auditing
  • Should possess a minimum of two years' experience working with Quality, Health & Safety or Environmental Management Systems
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft D365
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent.
