SUMMARY OF JOB: The Caustic Mixer/Cleaner is assigned to the Operations Department and is responsible for accurately and promptly completing assigned tasks, in accordance with company standards set by the Company. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Equipment Cleaning, Sanitization & Changeover Support Clean and sanitize mixers and stirrers as directed by the Team Lead or Designate and in line with the production schedule. Perform cleaning of processing contact parts, including valves, machine heads, pots, blades, tanks (portable and fixed), hoses/lines, and associated fittings. Platform tanks require entering and cleaning as needed. Verify equipment is visually clean, free from residue/contamination, and suitable for the next product/process before release for use. Support product changeovers by ensuring all designated equipment and areas are cleaned, dried (as required), and correctly reassembled. Ensure correct cleaning method is used for the job (e.g., caustic wash, solvent clean, scrap, rinse, dry) per approved procedures and safety requirements.
2) Caustic Bath & Cleaning Chemical Management Manage the caustic bath efficiently and safely to ensure effective cleaning performance (e.g., correct concentration/condition per procedure). Ensure cleaning solvents and approved cleaning materials are available, correctly labeled, and stored in designated locations. Segregate and handle cleaning chemicals to prevent cross-contamination and ensure compatibility (per SDS and site procedures). Escalate any issues that reduce cleaning effectiveness (e.g., weak bath, contamination, abnormal odor/appearance, missing labels, leaks) immediately.
3) Inspection, Equipment Integrity & Operational Excellence Inspect tanks, pots, lines, and equipment before and after cleaning to confirm cleanliness, condition, and readiness for processing. Check for and report defects or abnormal conditions (e.g., damaged seals/gaskets, worn blades, leaking valves, cracked hoses, loose clamps, corrosion). Confirm equipment functionality basics after reassembly (where permitted by procedure), and escalate if performance is not acceptable. Report any deviation from standard, procedure non-compliance, or suspected contamination immediately to the Designate/Team Lead/QC as applicable. Support operational excellence by minimizing downtime through timely cleaning, correct preparation, and clear communication of equipment status.
4) Documentation, Traceability & Records Control Record and document all cleaned tanks, pots, lines, equipment, and cleaned areas as required to maintain full traceability. Complete cleaning checklists/logs accurately (date/time, equipment ID, method/chemicals used, status, and sign-off as required). Identify and tag equipment/areas correctly (e.g., “Cleaned/Ready”, “Hold”, “Needs Repair”) according to site control procedures. Participate in monthly stocktaking activities and maintain accurate records for cleaning consumables and assigned inventory.
5) Housekeeping & 5S Across Production Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe work area at all times, including production floors, wash areas, staging zones, and surrounding walkways. Perform housekeeping across the production site to maintain 5S standards (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain). Keep staging areas clean and clear, ensuring items are properly arranged, labeled, and not obstructing access or emergency routes. Dispose of waste correctly and promptly, including contaminated wipes/rags, empty containers, and cleaning residues per site rules.
6) Painting & General Upkeep (Where Assigned) Carry out basic painting/touch-up work on non-product contact surfaces (e.g., equipment frames, stands, barriers, racks, and designated plant areas) as assigned. Prepare surfaces correctly before painting (e.g., cleaning, sanding, masking) to ensure good finish and durability. Use only approved paints/coatings and follow site safety, ventilation, and PPE requirements. Protect product, raw materials, packaging, and clean equipment from overspray/contamination by using covers and maintaining controlled work zones. Report corrosion, damage, or surfaces requiring maintenance to the Chargehand/Supervisor for planning and corrective action.
7) Material Handling, Filling/Decanting & Rework Support Utilize a forklift (as trained/authorized) to move materials, pots, equipment, totes, drums, packaging, and other related items safely. Fill and decant drums, totes, and pots as required, ensuring correct container selection, labeling, and cleanliness standards. Support rework activities as assigned, including handling, staging, and cleaning associated equipment and containers. Weigh materials as necessary, ensuring correct measurement, documentation, and prevention of mix-ups/contamination.
8) Compliance, Safety, Training & Cross-Cover Perform all duties in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements, the Ansa Coatings Limited Quality Manual, OSHA, and site SOPs. Use required PPE, follow chemical handling rules (SDS), and comply with all safety controls (e.g., lockout/tagout where applicable). Participate in training and development activities as required, including being trained to act as Process Assistant/Operator in their absence. Perform any other related duties assigned by management from time to time in support of production, quality, and safety. |
