Assurance Analyst

Job Purpose
The Assurance Analyst is responsible for supporting the Operations Unit by assisting in the independent testing and monitoring of operational controls. The role ensures that operational processes comply with the Bank’s internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will report directly to the Manager, Operational Excellence and Internal Control, providing updates on control testing outcomes, identified issues and recommendations for corrective actions. This position contributes to maintaining operational integrity, mitigating risks, and enhancing efficiency within the Operations Unit.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Control Testing & Monitoring
- Execute control testing across operational processes in accordance with the control testing framework.
- Collect, analyze, and document operational data to assess control effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records of testing results.
Issue Management & Reporting
- Track operational issues from identification to resolution.
- Report findings, trends, and recommendations to the Manager, Operational Excellence and Internal Control.
- Highlight recurring operational risks and recommend mitigation actions.
Compliance & Regulatory Support
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including POCA, ATA, and FOR.
- Support monitoring activities related to AML/CFT, CPF, and other regulatory requirements.
Process Improvement & Risk Mitigation
- Identify process gaps and control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
- Support initiatives aimed at strengthening the control environment and reducing operational risk.
Professional Development
- Participate in training related to operational risk, internal controls, and compliance.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Management, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Internal Audit, Risk Management, Compliance, Quality Management, or Banking Operations is an asset (e.g., CIA, CRMA, CFE, Professional Banking Diploma, Lean Six Sigma).
Experience
- Minimum 5 years' banking experience.
- At least 3 years in Operations, Quality Assurance, Internal Audit, Compliance, Operational Risk, or Internal Controls.
- Experience conducting reviews, control testing, process assessments, and identifying operational improvement opportunities.
Knowledge
- Banking operations, internal controls, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
- Quality assurance methodologies, root cause analysis, and process improvement techniques.
- Fraud detection, prevention, and investigation techniques.
- Operational risk and compliance frameworks.
- Banking systems and digital banking processes.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data validation, trend analysis, and control documentation.
